British fashion house Burberry’s “The Britain” watch celebrates 158 years of the London-based brand, and marks the company’s first venture into the luxury watch market utilizing an automatic movement. The watches are inspired by the iconic Burberry trench as well as British design, with the rounded octagonal shape of the face taken from the D-ring closure on the famous coats. The color palette also follows the brand’s classic design-scheme. Creative Director Christopher Bailey showed a collection called The Gentleman, which took its inspiration from city-to-country dressing and focussed on the notion of being polite and charming to capture the British spirit. Impeccable cuts and typically English materials, quirky details in ties, tweed caps, neat blazers and geometrical prints, patterns and animal motifs on shirts, sweaters, plain brogues, mustard week-end bags and the classic Burberry cropped jackets and duck headed umbrellas for which I’m very excited about. The impeccable attention to detail complimented with sharp tailoring,eye-catching accessories infused the clothes added class and playful embroidered knitwear that gave the collection a quintessentially English touch and illustrated what has made the brand such a go to for so many young trendsetters.
